Online Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogens — Course Overview
This combined online training program equips employees, staff, and community-based teams with the knowledge to recognize, prevent, and respond to exposure risks involving bloodborne and airborne infectious hazards. Built to support workplace safety expectations and day-to-day operational readiness, the course aligns with key OSHA-required training principles (including Bloodborne Pathogens awareness requirements) and reinforces practical prevention guidance consistent with CDC infection control recommendations.
Participants learn how pathogens spread through blood and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) as well as through airborne and respiratory transmission, and how to reduce risk using layered controls. The training covers real-world prevention strategies such as universal precautions, exposure awareness, proper PPE selection and use, safe handling and disposal practices, cleaning and disinfection fundamentals, and what to do immediately if an exposure incident or symptomatic event occurs on-site. The goal is simple: help teams protect themselves, protect others, and respond correctly when time and clarity matter.
Designed for flexibility and retention, this course combines video-based instruction with guided reading, then validates understanding through a required assessment. Upon successful completion of the online exam, participants earn a certificate of completion suitable for employer documentation and compliance tracking.
